Pune: The Rajesh Wadhawan Group owned Indian Super League (ISL) club FC Pune City strengthened their attacking options with the addition of Diego Carlos. The 29-year old will make his debut with FC Pune City in the Indian Super League.

FC Pune City CEO Gaurav Modwel said, “Diego's game has this rare quality of controlled aggression. His ability to seamlessly shift from being an attacking midfielder to a striker with exceptional ball control skills makes him a potent weapon for our team. Along with Marcelinho, (Jonatan) Lucca he will add the typical Brazilian flair to our team.”

Diego kicked off his youth career with Flamengo. Later he went on to represent Brazilian clubs Duque de Caxias and Corinthians Alagoano. In 2011, the Brazilian moved to Russia to play in the Russian National League representing Nizhny Novgorod where he scored 10 goals in 31 appearances. A season later, Diego moved to FC Luch-Energiya Vladivostok to join FC Ufa in 2012 where he scored eight goals for the club besides helping the club to move to the top division, i.e. Russian Premier League.

“This is the beginning of a new chapter in my football career. I have heard great things about the league as well as FC Pune City. It will be good to play alongside my country-mates Jonatan and Marcelinho. Expect me to give my 100% for the club to ensure the fans have reasons to celebrate.” expressed Carlos on signing up for FC Pune City.
