Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu: The Day 6 of the Hockey India 7th Sub Junior National Hockey Championship 2017 (Women) 'A' Division saw some hard-fought matches that kept the spectators entertained. The results of the day’s play are listed below.

In the first game of the day, Hockey Punjab trounced Chhattisgarh Hockey 15-1 in their Pool B encounter. Hockey Punjab rode on the hat-tricks scored by skipper Rozy Bharati who converted penalty corner attempts in the 6th, 11th and 15th minute. Later, Kashish, who was responsible for the opening goal in the 3rd minute, scored another hat-trick with her 34th, 35th and 36th minute goals. Hockey Punjab was 11 goals ahead when Chhattisgarh hockey converted their first goal in the via Laxmi Prajpati. Hockey Punjab ended the match with goals scored by Baljeet Kaur (44’ and 52’), Kashish (55’) and Pooja (63’) as they ensured to bag three points.

Hockey Odisha continued their fine run in the tournament with yet another win. This time they beat Hockey Bihar 4-0 in their Pool B match. Hockey Odisha’s Neha Lakra showed class by scoring three goals for her team in the 13th, 50th and 67th minute while Abinsimukti Surin scored in the 23rd minute. The team’s defenders on the other hand ensured Hockey Bihar doesn’t score a goal thus winning comfortably and taking home three points.

Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy too had a good outing on Monday as they defeated Delhi Hockey by a convincing 6-0 win. They took an early lead with Soniya Kumre scoring in the 1st minute of the match. Yogita Verma scored twice in the 20th and 51st minute while Divya Yadav (27’), Hritika Singh (54’) and Sanskriti Sarwan (65’) scored a goal each in Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy’s successful encounter.

In another high-scoring match, Hockey Jharkhand beat Hockey Madhya Pradesh 14-0. Deepika Soreng of Hockey Jharkhand continued her fine form in the tournament as she scored five back-to-back goals in the 18th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 29th minute. Capatin Salima Tete had opened the score earlier in the 2nd minute of the match Pramodini Lakra scored a goal just before half time in the 35th minute to ensure Hockey Jharkhand had a convincing 7-0 lead. Hockey Madhya Pradesh were a no-match to Hockey Jharkhand who later came back to pump seven more goals via Salima (48’, 52’), Pramodini (50’), Prini Kandir (59’), Dipti Kullu (63’), Beauty Dungdung (66’) and Deepika Soreng (70’).

Hockey Haryana beat Hockey Karnataka 12-1 in their Pool D encounter. Hockey Haryana took advantage of a fine start when Deepika scored in the 2nd minute of the match and followed it by a hat-trick with successive goals in 4th, 14th and 17th minute of play. Sharmila Devi (21’, 26’ and 68’) too showed her talent with three goals while Skipper Reet (3’), Bharati Sahora (18’), Meenakshi (31’), Neelam (35’) and Anu (41’) scored for Hockey Haryana to ensure a big win. Chandana J was the lone scorer for Hockey Karnataka with her 46th minute goal.

In another Pool D encounter, Hockey Gangpupr-Odisha beat Bengal Hockey Association 10-0 to earn three points and stay in contention. Sunita Xaxa (20’ and 54’), Jyotsna Rohidas (18’ and 56’) scored two goals each, Jiwan Kishori Toppo (6’), Aten Topno (12’), Anjela Toppo (30’), Manisha Oram (41’), Namrata Jasmin Bara (47’), Philicia Toppo (49’) scored for the winning team.

In the last match on Sunday, Sports Authority of India beat Hockey Patiala 2-1 in a closely fought match. Akanksha Shukla gave SAI the lead with her 24th minute goals while Hockey Patiala equalized it in the 59th minute. The last few minutes saw some tense moments with both teams pressing hard, however, SAI held their nerve to prevail with a 63rd minute goal by Anjna Dung Dung.
