Youth in Naxal affected areas getting skill development training

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today said that Naxalite activities are fully under control in the state and the wheel of development is moving even in Naxalite affected areas. PAC, CRPF and district police are doing their job efficiently in Mirjapur, which shares boundary with Madhya Pradesh, Sonbhadra that shares boundaries with Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh and Chandauli bordering Bihar. Yogi Adityanath said in a review meeting of Chief Minister’s of Left Wing Extremism affected states at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah presided over the meeting.

Yogi said that one company of PAC is stationed in Mirjapur, while five companies, one platoon PAC and two companies of CRPF are deployed in Sonbhadra. Two companies of PAC and one company CRPF have also been deployed in Chandauli. District police along with these forces routinely undertake combing, searching and patrolling operations in Naxal-affected areas. Apart from this, Anti-Terrorism Squad is also involved in action from time to time, as a result Naxalite activities are under control.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government is closely monitoring source points in Naxal-affected areas where there may be a possibility of raising funds for Naxalites. Identifying such areas, action is being taken by CRPF, PAC and District Police through combing, searching and patrolling operations. Besides, many cases related to Naxalites in Mirzapur, Sonbhadra and Chandauli are under consideration in courts and 38 accused are currently detained.

Yogi said that inter-state coordination seminars are being organized and information is regularly exchanged. Joint operations are also done in the bordering areas. He said that in Sonbhadra, 48th Battalion PAC as Indian Reserve Battalion is stationed whereas a second Indian Reserve Battalion at Chandauli will be deployed.

Police stations too have been strengthened in Naxalite affected districts. Construction work of 3 fortified police stations in Mirjapur, 8 in Sonbhadra and 4 in Chandauli has been completed. Appointments of police personnel in these police stations have also been completed. Yogi informed that work on 6.75 km long road and a bridge (Chachikala Bridge) is going on in Sonbhadra, which will be completed by September 2020.

Sharing details of the development work, Yogi Adityanath said that the development work in these areas is going at a rapid pace. Eklavya Model Residential School with 480 student capacity is under construction at Peepar Khad of Sonbhadra. Construction of the main building of ITI in Ghoraval tehsil of Sonbhadra is complete and youth are being trained there. However, the construction of the hostel building is yet to begin. Construction of the building for skill development in Sonbhadra is also complete. After the arrangement of water supply, the youth will soon be trained here.

Work on smooth communication in these areas is also on. In Sonbhadra 66 towers of BSNL are functioning, while 6 each are operational in Mirjapur and Chandauli. In the second phase, work will start to install 143 towers in Sonbhadra, 19 in Chandauli and 17 in Mirzapur, after the approval of the Government of India. Out of 2180 gram panchayats of Sonbhadra, Mirjapur and Chandauli, 330 gram panchayats are in Naxalite affected area. Bank are operational in 87 gram panchayats, while ATM facilities are functional in 33 gram panchayats.

The Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh Government is committed to work for farmers, youth, women, poor, deprived and the exploited. Recent Lok Sabha elections have been conducted smoothly, which reflects state's effective administrative and police system. Besides, the state government successfully organized Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Varanasi and successfully organized and managed Kumbh at Prayagraj.
